Ready, Boots?

First of all, everything they say about Southern hospitality is absolutely true. We opened our doors in Nashville, Tennessee this January and our neighbors and customers over at The Mall at Green Hills instantly made us feel right at home.

Showroom Manager Andrew Lazarus created a short playlist that sums up the sweet life in Music City for you, plus he gives us the rundown of Nashville’s iconic music scene, culinary destinations (Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack, we’re looking at you) and unique fashion approach. Let’s roll.

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Franklin, Tennessee, just south of Nashville.

Nashville is famous for its music scene—do you have any favorite up and coming bands from the city?

I’ve been listening to Jillian Cardarelli, Basecamp and Chris Bandi a lot lately. They’re all great local acts that do our city proud.

If you could make a playlist that sums up what it’s like to live in Nashville, what would it sound like?

So these songs don’t exactly describe Nashville living, but you could say it’s the city’s unofficial soundtrack. If you hit up karaoke while you’re here, these are definitely songs the whole bar will be singing along to.

Reba MacEntire – Fancy

Tim McGraw – Something like that

Dolly Parton –  Nine to Five

Seth Ennis – Woke up in Nashville

Garth Brooks – Friends in Low Places

Alabama – Song of the South

Patsy Cline – Crazy

Journey – Don’t Stop Believing

Everyone knows “Rocky Top” by heart.

What are some of the most underrated destinations in the city?

Some of my favorite spots are Percy Warner Park, The Frist, The Parthenon, Coco’s Italian Market and The Belle Meade Plantation (and its winery). The list goes on, but these are some places to start.

Our showroom just opened in The Mall at Green Hills—how have visitors been responding to our made to measure experience so far?

They are loving it. We have had so many people come in curious about our brand and excited to learn what Indochino is all about. We have such a new approach to tailoring and retail—everyone wants to be a part of it.

Nashville folks take “Suited and booted” to the next level. Spots like Boot Country are a must when you are in town.

What’s your opinion on suits with cowboy boots?

Absolutely do it! Cowboy boots are a wardrobe staple in Nashville—you need to have at least one pair in your closet and it’s great to throw them on with a suit. As a matter of fact, I measured a customer yesterday and we made accommodations for the cowboy boots!

Describe your ideal day in Nashville.

My Ideal day would start with breakfast at Loveless Cafe—you can’t go wrong with chicken and waffles and a Bloody Mary. From there, I would go to Percy Warner for a hike. It’s beautiful out there and the trails are so much fun. Then I would head to lunch at a local spot with a patio with friends. The night life is booming in Nashville right now so I would do dinner then hit the town.
