The first kegs are getting tapped in Munich this weekend for Oktoberfest—it’s official, beer season is here. With the abundance of brilliant microbreweries around the world, it can get overwhelming choosing just the right ones for you. Before you give up and sidle up next to old faithful, aka PBR, we’ve got a list of some incredible craft beers that we discovered in or around our showroom cities. Prost!
Vancouver, BC – Four Winds Saison
6.5% ABV, 30 IBU
The Belgian classic gets an update with this flowery and aromatic beer. Four Winds’ Saison is brewed with Noble hops then finished with Pacific Northwest Cascade hops, creating a strong and smooth but surprisingly fruity flavor.
Chico, California – Sierra Nevada Oktoberfest
6.1% ABV, 30 IBU
This year, Sierra Nevada collaborated with Germany’s Brauhaus Faust in Miltenberg to create this malty marvel. It’s brewed with German-grown whole-cone hops, delivering a lush, rich beer.
Stowe, Vermont – The Alchemist Harvest Ale
7.1% ABV, 30 IBU
Oktoberfest roots run deep in this ale. The seasonal brew is a combination of 100% Munich malt and fresh, green hops. Like all of The Alchemist’s beers, it’s packaged in brilliant illustrations—a treat for your eyes and your taste buds.
Calgary, AB – Wild Rose Cowbell
4.5% ABV, 9 IBU
This nicely balanced sour beer gets its distinct flavor from kaffir lime leaves. It is tart and refreshing, and will have you doing your best Christopher Walken impersonation.
Chicago, IL – Langunitas A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’
7.5% ABV, 65 IBU
The best of both worlds is all in one bottle. This potent puppy is a hoppy wheat ale that will please IPA and hefeweizen fans alike. Be careful though, it goes down smooth but at 7.5% ABV it packs a punch.
Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn Brewery Lager
5.2% ABV, 33 IBU
This one’s a game changer. The iconic brewery uses dry-hopping, a British technique, in a Viennese-style beer, making it a complex and truly original creation. What you get is a spectacularly flavored beer—velvety and refreshing all at once.
Toronto, ON – Bellwoods Brewery Wizard Wolf
4.8% ABV, 44 IBU
Low hop bitterness but tons of hop flavor? What sorcery is this? Bellwoods Brewery’s Wizard Wolf is fruity, aromatic pale ale that can still put some hair on your chest.
